At its most basic a bowl is defined as a concave usually hemispherical vessel and is amongst the earliest of man-made artifacts. Users, past and present, have considered the empty-full heft of a bowl and its capacity as a carrying-vessel of distribution and consumption. Bowls are integral to the everyday and the celebratory alike and as such exude a sense of abundance. In the series 'Weight of Abundance' large gestural, often heavy, bowls are metaphors for abundance and sharing.
