Primarily making objects that speak to collective care and connection, I was first drawn to clay for its functional capacity and remain enamoured with its tactile nature. Through handbuilding and making in multiples, I work slowly and repetitively to investigate weight, buoyancy, and the tension between restraint and release. I am curious about where grief lives in the body and the somatic residue of memory.
Composed of soft panels molded from a thrifted heating pad, the forms recall comfort while carrying inherent physical weight. The organic, burnt surface created through the obvara firing process stains the pads, recording fleeting moments with permanent, unpredictable marks.
Arranged in organized, tethered networks, the composition becomes an act of emotional sorting and relational mapping. Hi-vis perimeter lines hold each form in place, both securing and restraining, asking whether what we hold onto offers protection or prevents release.
