Private Group Workshops 1-16 People

Group pottery workshops are a wonderful way to spend time together while creating something with your hands. Working with clay is playful, a little messy, and naturally encourages connection and conversation.

This private workshop is inspired by our popular Introduction to Ceramics format. Over the course of 3.5 hours, participants will explore both hand-building and an introduction to the potter’s wheel, giving everyone the opportunity to experience two essential ceramic techniques.

At the beginning of the workshop, the group will be divided into two smaller groups. Halfway through the session, participants will rotate to the other instructor and technique.

No prior experience is required. The workshop is designed to be relaxed, creative, and enjoyable for everyone.

Group size: 10–16 participants
Duration: 3.5 hours (depending on techniques taught)
Availability: Workshops can usually be scheduled 2–3 weeks after the request

Handbuilding Session
In this session, participants will create a mug or small personal object using hand-building techniques. This approach allows for creativity and freedom while working directly with clay.

Each participant will create one ceramic piece that will later be glazed and fired by the studio.

Wheel Throwing Session
This session introduces the basics of wheel throwing on the potter’s wheel.
Because wheel throwing normally takes several classes to master, this experience focuses on learning the basic movements such as centering the clay and pulling up simple forms. These first attempts are part of the learning process and will not be kept, but they offer a great introduction to the technique.

○ Introduction to hand-building and wheel throwing
○ One finished hand-built piece per participant
○ Glazing and kiln firing handled by the studio

At the end of the workshop, participants will choose a glaze for their hand-built piece. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup approximately 4–6 weeks after the workshop.
