I am a Central New York ceramic artist exploring material, ritual, and place. Inspired by archaeology and historical functional ceramics, my work is rooted in the landscape around Lake Ontario: throwing vessels on the wheel and incorporating wild, local materials. Working primarily with raw clay and slips, I seek to preserve the material's integrity, letting natural tones and textures reflect the land around me. My work is inspired by a fascination with water as a site of both knowledge and reflection, exploring concepts like hydromancy and modern water-based data modeling through vessels designed to hold and store water.
My work invites viewers to consider the uncertain future of our ecosystems, and how we choose to seek understanding.
